Bhavendra Kumar elevated to ED role in Canara Bank

Bhavendra Kumar has been elevated to the post of executive director at Canara Bank, after getting approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
Kumar took charge as ED on 9 October, as per the Department of Financial Services notification.
Prior to his new position, Kumar was chief general manager and headed the bank’s Delhi circle office with a business of more than Rs 2.5 lakh crore.
Kumar joined Canara Bank on 10 March 1997 as probationary officer and has worked in different capacities across states such as Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, Karnataka and New Delhi. He has also worked in Canara bank, Shanghai Branch for a period of three years.
In 2020, he was made general manager and was posted to the bank’s head office at Bengaluru. He was promoted to chief general manager in 2022.
