A senior HDFC Bank official in Kolkata was suspended on Monday after a video went viral on social media where he was seen abusing his colleagues during an internal online meeting.

The officer was heard using abusive language at his junior colleagues for not selling enough banking and insurance products.

This generated reaction from netizens who commented on the toxic work environment prevailing in corporate India to meet deadlines and targets.

"How many saving and current accounts have you opened in the last two days? Tell me," the senior executive is seen asking his juniors in the video.

"You were supposed to open 15 and you have opened 5," the official shouted at another employee.

HDFC Bank responded later stating that the concerned official has been suspended.

â€œBasis a preliminary inquiry into the matter, the concerned employee has been suspended and a detailed investigation has been initiated which will be undertaken as per Conduct guidelines of the Bank. We at HDFC Bank have a zero tolerance policy for any form of misconduct at the workplace and firmly believe in treating all our employees with dignity and respect," Ajay, Service Manager at the bank, said on Twitter.
