PNB Q1 loan book outpaces deposit growth

Punjab National Bank's global loan book grows 12.7% YoY to Rs 10.3 lakh crore in Q1; deposits up 8.5%.


Punjab National Bank's global loan book grew 12.7% year-on-year to Rs 10.3 lakh crore in the first quarter of fiscal 2025, according to the state-run lender’s provisional quarterly business updates filed with stock exchanges. 

A quarter ago, the loan book stood at Rs 9.83 lakh crore.

For the three-month period ending June 2024, domestic advances grew 12.1% to Rs 9.89 lakh crore. 

The bank's global business jumped 10.3% to Rs 24.4 lakh crore in the June quarter compared to Rs 22.1 lakh crore a year ago.

On the deposit front, PNB saw a growth of 8.5% year-on-year to Rs 14.08 lakh crore at the end of June 2024. In fact, deposits grew slower than the bank’s loan book.

Sequentially, the deposits grew 2.8%.

The credit-to-deposit ratio stood at 73.39% versus 71.79% in the January-March quarter.
