Bandhan Bank to sell Rs 6,900 cr of bad loans, write-offs

Bandhan Bank’s board has approved the sale of its non-performing assets (NPAs) and written-off loan portfolios worth over Rs 6,900 crore through a bidding process with asset reconstruction companies (ARCs).
For the sale of NPA portfolios with over 180 days due, the bank will invite bids under the Swiss Challenge method 2025. This carries a principal outstanding of Rs 3,212.17 crore as on 30 September, Bandhan Bank said in a regulatory filing.
For the written-off loan portfolio, the bank will sell separately through the auction route. This has a principal outstanding of Rs 3,719.14 crore as of 30 September 2025.
These portfolios fall under the bank’s Emerging Entrepreneurs Business (EEB), including group loans and small business and agri loans, and the Aspiring Business Group (ABG), the lender said.
