HDFC Bank has posted strong growth in credit and deposits in the fiscal third quarter. On the deposit front, the country’s largest private lender has increased its CASA
(current account savings account) mix to 43% in the December quarter, up from 39.5% a year ago and 41.6% from the preceding quarter.
The bank’s advances aggregated to approximately Rs 10,820 billion as of 31 December 2020, a growth of around 16% as compared to Rs 9,360 billion a year ago.
Sequentially, advances grew around 4% to touch Rs 10,383 billion at end-September.
HDFC’s deposits aggregated to approximately Rs 12,710 billion in the fiscal third quarter, the bank said in a regulatory filing. This meant a growth of 19% from Rs 10,674 billion in the December quarter of 2019. Sequentially, deposits grew around 3% as compared to Rs 12,293 billion as of 30 September 2020.
During the quarter ended 31 December 2020, the bank purchased loans aggregating Rs 70.76 billion through the direct assignment route under the home loan arrangement with Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd.
