SBI’s home loan book to cross Rs 10 trillion in FY27: Chairman Setty

After breaking Rs 9 trillion mark last month, SBI’s home loan book is set to hit Rs 10 trillion in FY27 on back of robust demand and a low interest-rate regime, Chairman Setty said.

After breaking the Rs 9 trillion mark last month, State Bank of India (SBI) expects its home loan portfolio to hit the Rs 10 trillion milestone in the next financial year, chairman CS Setty said.

The growth will be driven by robust demand and a low interest-rate regime.

"Today my home loan portfolio is more than Rs 9 trillion...this is the single largest business unit in the bank, over 20% of our total assets," PTI quoted Setty as saying.

At 14% growth rate, SBI is well on the path to achieve a milestone of Rs 10 trillion home portfolio next financial year, he said.

The bank closed FY25 with the home loan book at Rs 8.31 trillion, posting a 14.4% year-on-year growth. The non-performing assets (NPA) in this portfolio stood at 0.72%, one of the lowest in the banking sector.

SBI is the biggest mortgage loan provider in the country. The lender’s home loan portfolio has grown from Rs 1 trillion in March 2011 to Rs 9 trillion in November 2025.
