Bank of Maharashtra celebrates 87th Foundation Day

Bank of Maharashtra celebrates 87th Foundation Day

Born out of the Swadeshi movement, Bank of Maharashtra has continued to play its social role as a public sector bank. In the 12-month run-up to its 87th Foundation Day on 16 September, managing director and CEO A S Rajeev said the bank has expanded its balance sheet during challenging times while losing staff due to Covid-19, supported street vendors and is on course to soon cross Rs 3 lakh crore in total business.

Customers have been key during this whole journey and the bank’s focus has been to make it a tech-enabled smart bank, Rajeev said.

Inaugurating the foundation day function at the head office in Pune, executive director AB Vijayakumar said the bank had made efforts to have a pan India presence and is known for its status as a ‘common man’s bank’ of the country.

A two-minute silence was observed as a mark of tribute to those ‘covid warriors’ who lost their lives due to the pandemic.

Vijayakumar also facilitated 87 beneficiaries in PM SVANidhi scheme to street vendors in Pune to mark the 87 years of Foundation Day celebrations.
