RBI for external candidates for IndusInd Bank’s CEO, COO position

RBI asks board of IndusInd Bank to look for external candidates for the post of Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating officer.

The Reserve Bank of India has asked the board of IndusInd Bank to look for external candidates for the post of Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating officer,  Economic Times reported.

The development comes after the RBI last week approved a one-year extension for Sumant Kathpalia’s reappointment as CEO.

Earlier, in an analyst call, Kathapalia had said that the central bank may have some concerns regarding his leadership skills.

On being given just a year of extension, the current IndusInd CEO had said that the RBI was ‘uncomfortable’ with his style of working.

IndusInd Bank’s shares have taken a sharp dip after the country's fifth-largest bank disclosed discrepancies in accounting on its derivatives portfolio. The bank had said that this could lead to a 2.35% hit in its net worth.
