State Bank of India (SBI) has in a preliminary assessment put Rs 10,000 crore as the potentially eligible agricultural loans for restructuring across three states that have declared drought, Chairman CS Setty said.
The State Level Bankers’ Committees (SLBCs) in these states have passed the resolutions to make restructuring relief available.
Setty said past experiences show that not many farmers come to avail the restructuring. The final amount would depend on farmers coming forward to opt in.
SBI’s agricultural loan book stood at Rs 4.51 lakh crore at the end of the September quarter, up 22.64% over the year-ago period. It comprised 10.31% of the lender’s domestic loan book.
The asset quality of the bank’s agri gold loan portfolio remained healthy. SBI maintained a conservative loan-to-value (LTV) ratio in agri gold loans of 60–61% as of 30 September 2026, well below the regulatory ceiling of 85%.
